What to do at Your Next Audition
The audition process can be both exciting and terrifying at the same time. It is true that the more you attend, the easier it gets. With that being said, I have found a few tips and tricks that can help unwind the nerves a bit.
First, BE YOURSELF!!! I can’t stress this enough. Wear something that stands out. A bright color, or a fun pair of pants. Something that makes you feel good and helps boost your confidence. Make sure you are comfortable in what you choose. If you are uncomfortable or self-conscious of the look you went for, it will show through in your dancing.
Next, have a great attitude and great energy. Interact with your fellow dancers. Greet them with smiles and kind words. Give out high fives (air high fives if still necessary). Chances are they are as nervous as you are, and a friendly face is much appreciated. This also shows that you are a team player and are not just out for your individual success.
Lastly… Have FUN!! When you are enjoying yourself, it is hard for a judge or choreographer to not feed off your energy and get swept up in your personality and have fun as well. Trust the process and enjoy the ride. If you don’t get this one, it’s just that much more experience gained for the next.
