First things first, The National Dance Honors is such a great and fun experience! I got to meet a lot of new friends and take class from amazing teachers. Also, I was able to participate in what the National Dance Honors calls the Honored Crew.
To earn my place in the Honored Crew, I had to make their Performance Crew or get a scholarship at either Adrenaline Dance or Revive Dance Regionals. The Honored Crew is a group of dancers that are competing for title at National Dance Honors. The Honored Crew gets to perform at the closing show (the Gala) and that is where the Title Winner is announced. They announce the Top 20, Top 10, Top 3 and finally the Winner. The Winner of the Title of Honored Dancer gets to showcase their solo in the Gala!
The National Dance Honors also has Honored Dances. Once the group competition finishes, the finalists are announced. Only one dance per studio in each age division can make it. Later, all the finalists will re-compete and the top 3 dances are invited to perform again at the Gala, where the winner will be announced! This year, my Hip-Hop dance made it into the top 3 and we were ultimately named 2nd runner up. This was such a fun experience. It was so cool to perform with the Honored Crew and at the Gala!
Overall, the real reason I love coming to this convention, it challenges me to work on myself. It is a place where I can grow as a dancer and a person. Meeting new friends is such a pleasure for me because I always see them the next year. The National Dance Honors gave me such a great experience that I will always want to attend, year after year!!!
Have fun dancing,
Piper
