THE LIFE OF A VIRTUAL DANCER

We were used to being in the studio 24/7 along with
conventions and master classes. In a moment we were forced
to join the virtual world. Zoom, Instagram Live, and YouTube
Live filled the void of in-person classes.
My training
company has been meeting every Sunday on Zoom.
There were some bumps along the way and we kind
of had to figure out this new way of learning
that we weren’t used to, like muting ourselves,
and realizing that not everyone has enough room
in their house. But, we just learned how to make
it work. So, this has actually made us better
dancers in the long run with self motivation,
adapting to new environments, and overcoming obstacles!
Another plus was taking classes
from teachers we never were able to before.
Platforms like CLI,TMilly and Brea Space have literally
brought the best of the industry to everyone's access.
It really made the 72 days I spent home bearable.
Yes, for 72 days I didn't leave my house! I could
see my friends all across the country and we were
all so happy just to see each other's face. Even
though we were alone we were still alone together!
I will continue to train virtually this summer
but I can’t wait to get back to a room with all of the dancers
