I would like to share my thoughts on how to be a great team player:
Being an advanced dancer means that you will be spending a lot of time at the studio and with your teammates each week. The studio becomes your second home and your teammates become like sisters and brothers! Here are some tips that have helped me to be the best teammate I can be!
*Support and love your teammates
*Help each other out if someone is struggling with a step
*Give each other positive feedback and cheer each other on in class
*If you and your teammates are competing solos, remember you are competing against a point system and not each other. Be happy for one another regardless of placement at competitions
*If a teammate gets sick or hurt, make them a get-well card
*One of my favorite quotes is "Be the woman who fixes another Queen's crown without telling the world it was crooked". This speaks to me because we help each other be our best!
*A great teammate is willing and happy to stand anywhere in the dance and doesn't get upset if they are not up front and center all the time. They know that anywhere they dance is helping the routine be strong!
*Remember that the team should come first!
*Get to know your teammates well! Find out their favorite thing to do outside of dance is, favorite music, favorite color, favorite toy etc.. You will find that you have a lot in common!
*Don't leave anyone out! Talk to someone who you may not always talk to. Be sure to include everyone on your team.
*Always give your best and encourage your teammates to do the same!
*Set the example and try to be good role models for the groups younger than you!
*Always treat others in your group the way you want to be treated! Try not to "boss" around your teammates.
I hope you found these tips helpful and they help you to be the be teammate you can be! I love my team and my teammates like family!
