As a young dancer, at only seven years old, I have already begun to learn some important lessons.
Discipline - Hey! I’m only seven and when I started dance classes I was five! It is very hard for me to focus in dance class. I love to talk to my friends and do my own thing. You know...twirling around when I should be standing in first position. But, I soon started to wonder why I was always being placed in the back of the class...and questioned why some of my friends were mastering skills that I could not quite understand how to get? The answer?? I simply was not focusing. It took time, and its still a work in progress to this day. But with the help and guidance of my amazing dance teachers, I have slowly come to realize that by focusing in my dance classes, I can achieve far more than I ever have before. I have started to excel. I have started to enjoy. I began receiving more attention. It seems to be paying off, and now this year I am performing a solo for the first time! Dance has taught me that I need to focus to achieve my goals and that I will continually learn to be more disciplined. I cannot wait to see where this road leads!
