Injured!! - by - Grace Batts

A couple of weeks ago I was at dance and I was starting to get tired. We were running through production when it came time for me to dance. When I went full speed for a battement my leg slipped from under me. I fell very hard on my back and it really hurt. I immediately iced it and sat on a pillow. I went to the doctors the next day and they said it was bruised and to use icy hot and take a break from dance for a week. The process of this injury healing is what I want to talk about. I know this happens to lots of dancers everyday like at competitions, in the studio, conventions, etc. The first thing you want to do for this to heal is to take it easy. It hurt for me to walk so I had to sit a lot. The next thing you want to do is see a doctor immediately to see if your injury is very serious. Next, you want to ice it and use a heating pad. I used icy hot and it worked very well. The last thing is to take a rest from dance. I know this was hard for me to I wanted to dance but in order to dance again I had to take a break. I hope that this helps if this certain injury occurs.

    I remember when this happened! I felt so bad for you because I knew you wanted to keep dancing!! But because you took it easy and did what you should’ve you healed and got back to dancing, better than ever!! 💗
