Is Cross-Training a Good Idea?

I have been dancing for as long as I can remember and started competing when I was 4 years old. As a dancer I spend a lot of hours in the studio training and practicing as well as many weekends at competitions and conventions.
But training doesn’t just stop there.

I practice and train outside the studio as well. As a dancer it is so important to cross-train to increase strength, flexibility , endurance and general health and well being. When I’m not dancing I love to run, bike , take extra strength and conditioning classes as well as acro lessons and yoga.
All of these activities do amazing things for your technique as a dancer. Running, biking, and conditioning are great for building core strength and endurance. Acro and yoga are great help in improving flexibility and discipline.

I don’t love doing all of these things, but I understand how important it is to keep my body strong and healthy so that I’m able to keep dancing and improving. So I try to find the fun in any cross-training activities I do.

There are so many different activities that you can do to help build strength , endurance and flexibility. So find something you love and remember to have fun and keep moving!

XOXO❤️
