Hey guys! I’m Bailey and like many of you, I dance all year. Dance is not over when the curtain closes on the recital!
During the summer, many studios and dance schools have classes and learn choreography for the upcoming season. A lot of people also go to Nationals (I’ve never been before, although it’s a dream of mine). Summer is the time some schools hold their intensive programs as well. A summer intensive is usually at least a week long set of high demand dance classes on various styles and subjects. Usually you get to stay in a dorm for summer intensives, but this year I’m doing one where they don’t offer housing, so I have to stay in an Airbnb with my mom.
Now, remember: before any classes, get nice and limber with your yellow Sugar stretching band, so you’re ready to focus on your choreo. Pay special attention to your ankles in the summer if you’re not taking pointe classes as often as you are during the regular dance season.
In my free time, I love meeting up with friends at the studio when no one is there to work on skills together. It’s a great way to keep up on skills, improve skills, and get some great tips and critiques from your dance friends. Sometimes, it’s even fun to just go to a park or the pool and do cartwheels and other tricks. Maybe, you can get your momographer to take you out on a free photoshoot in some cool Sugarhaul merch, too! Be sure to send in your photos for a chance to be a #SUGARFEATURE on Sugarhaul’s Insta!
Have Fun This Summer,
