Being Number One - by - Gabriella Kennedy

Success isn't about how amazing of a dancer you are, its about not only your talent, but your dedication, how you treat others, are you approachable? do you make others feel welcome?
Over the summer I attended a dance convention where they were selecting dancers to be apprentices.  I gave it my all and just had fun with it.  On day two, I noticed a group of mean girls who seemed to want to bully others and were quite unfriendly and not nice.  On day three, they were making fun of someone who wasn't getting the steps the correct way, in fact they were down right nasty. My family has always taught me to show good character on and off the stage/field. So I thought about what should be important, becoming an assistant, or helping that girl get the steps and making her feel like someone instead of how they made her feel.  Sadly, I was not chosen because I did fall behind on the choreography but it didn't matter because I made someone else feel good.  (yes the mean girls got selected) but that is okay with me.  I am who I am and I love that I put character and pride in making others feel important as opposed to being number one.  Character goes a long way in this industry, as does talent, but when you put the two together, you are a force to be reckoned with!
With Passion,
Gabriella
