If you're a competitive dancer or anything like me, you tend to be a perfectionist. I train hard and train a lot, and a lot of times, i'm super happy with my dances. Every once and a while I tend to have an off day or week. My turns aren't centered causing me to not get around as many times, I didn't point my toes, i'm just simply exhausted. I would get frustrated and impatient, which to only learn it caused my technique to worsen. Inaddition, that sour look on my face didn't make me a good example to others in my class. When I gave myself a little grace and accepted that not every day would be perfect, but to always still try my best, I made it over the hump easier.
I've learned that we're a lot harder on ourselves than we need to be. Our teachers know when we're trying hard. When you're having an off day, give yourself a little grace, and breathe. You have to be calm to nail your moves. Your struggles are only temporary. Simply remember, don't try to be perfect. Just be the best you that you can be.
