A Little Stretching Goes a Long Way!
One of my very favorite things to do is stretch! I do it every day for at least 10 minutes, but usually a little longer than that. I wanted to share some of my favorite tips to help you with you stretching journey as well.
First, and most important, make sure that you do a good warmup! I try for at least 5 minutes. Do some jumping jacks, planks or mountain clumbers to get your heart rate up and your body ready to get your stretch on.
Secondly, and also VERY IMPORTANT, if it hurts….STOP! Stretching can be a little uncomfortable but it shouldn’t be painful. If it really hurts you have to stop so you don’t injure yourself.
Now that we have that out of the way, I personally like to stretch to follow along videos on YouTube the best. Find some favorites and then save them to a playlist so they’re easy to find in the future. I rotate my videos so I’m not doing the same routine all of the time. It gets boring and your body will get too used to it. You have to switch it up to keep it interesting and to keep pushing your body. Follow along videos are fun because there’s usually music, someone to motivate you and its just a lot better than staring at your wall.
There’s a whole lot more to stretching but this is just my basic start up! It’s important to do it every day and you’ll be so surprised at the progress. In fact, take a few photos when you first start, then again in a month or so! It’s amazing what kind of results you can accomplish with only 10 minutes a day!
