How to Handle a Costume Malfunction Like Pro

Oct 18, 2016

embarrassed girl

It’s happened to performers at the top and we can all probably even name a few. Remember Brittney Spears a few years back with her body suit that split, or J Lo in the beginning of the year when her costume split a bit revealing her backside, or even more recent when Sharna Burgess of DWTS had a triple costume faux pas in one night? It’s happened to most performers at one time or another.

A headband slips. A strap breaks or worse, a top creeps up. Rising stars can certainly learn from the pros. First by making sure your costumes are in tip top shape with all the pieces accounted for. We’ve also learned from Dance Moms to do everything you can to “fix” your pieces such as sewing headbands into your hair. Another great suggestion is to use a body adehisive such as the Stick-it adhesive in your September/October Sugarhaul. to keep your costumes from slipping . You can get more Stick-It here

But if a costume malfunction does happen, the biggest tip we can learn from our idols is that “the show must go on”. They pull it off like nothing strange is happening. And, more than likely, many people in the audience are so fixated on the performance, they didn’t even notice.
