Dancers have the looooooooonnnnnnggggest workouts and its super important to keep fueled on-the-go. Sometimes you may only get a couple minutes to take a water break so it’s important to keep portable snacks ready. It’s easy to rely on the same 2 or 3 snack items but when you’re very demanding on your muscles with very little time to give it fuel, those water breaks could turn into power breaks.
Sugar asked the #SUGARPROS what they like to pack and they came up with some great ideas. The number one, hands-down snack choice was fruit. Let’s admit it, portable, easy to grab and tastes yummy. Fruit, especially organic can be very good for you and long workouts demand carbohydrates.
Janae likes to mix it up by adding Clif Kids bars, Nutella Uncrustables (that sounds amazing!) and some trail mix. Janae will even pack up some caramel to dip her apple slices.
Brooke likes to focus on protein snacks. You can almost always find a protein bar or cheese stick in her bag but one of her favorite portable snacks is an Ostrich Stick. You have got to try these - great protein source for muscles.
Emelie keeps her snacks clean by packing up carrots and hummus, cheese and almonds, and apples and peanut butter. Yummmmm!
Shailee likes to keep it on the healthy side too. Shailee has sum really tasty ideas with air popped popcorn sprayed with coconut oil and frozen Chobani Yogurt Tubes. Her favorite is gouda and triscuits but she also likes to keep M&Ms packed for a treat/energy boost:)
Layla’s favorite easy breakfast before convention is Nutella and bananas on waffles and her favorite go-to snacks are Special K bars and fruit smoothies.
Not everyone can just grab and go. Lots of dancers have allergies or special dietary needs so they need to be careful what they pack. Reese has tree and peanut allergies so her favorite portable snacks are Goldfish, Smartpop White Cheddar, and cheese cubes. Xavia needs to steer clear of wheat, beef and pork so she likes to pack fruits, cherry tomatoes, gluten-free pretzels and homemade Peanut Butter Granola Bars.
